The Pipsqueak Who Squeaked Too Much
Sometimes against Mama’s better judgement she had to leave Feather and Stella alone together while she ran an errand. One day she had a brilliant idea. To minimize the mischief they got into together she would distract Stella by letting her Facetime her Moomie and Papa on the computer. So Feather sat on the couch and read while Stella sat at the kitchen table and Facetimed her grandparents. Stella started the conversation by recapping important moments from Paw Patrol and then moved on to making up her own stories for her grandparents right there on the spot.
“And guess what else!?” Feather paused her reading and admired the enthusiasm building in Stella’s voice. She was such a talented story teller that Feather found it hard to pay attention to the book in her hands. But Stella’s next story line took Feather by surprise.
“Feather slept over EVERY NIGHT last week! We’re like a real family!!”
Feather was not sure what Mama’s parents knew about her. Did they think they were friends? Did they know they were girlfriends? Did they— but Feathers thoughts were cut off. Suddenly she realized Stella had turned the computer camera to face her.
“Oh!” Feather yelped “um-hello! And she scrambled off the couch and hustled over to the computer. “Its so nice to meet you! I think your daughter and granddaughter are….lovely. Oh actually I think Victoria is home now! I’ll go help her with the groceries!”
Moomie started to say something like “It was nice meeting you to” But Stella interjected “MAMA’S HOME!?” And slammed the computer shut and went racing to the door.
“Hey Mama’s not here…” she looked back confused at Feather who was lying back on the couch staring at the ceiling.
“Squeaks.” Said Feather using one of her nicknames for Stella. “Have I ever told you the story of the Pipsqueak who squeaked too much?”
“Noooo” said Stella slowly floating back toward the couch with a cautious curiosity.
“Well” sighed Feather “It goes like this…” Stella leaned in because Feather was talking very softly now. Feather snapped up and yanked Stella onto her lap -and you guessed it- TICKLE ATTACK! “Why are you SO squeaky??!!” Feather asked over and over again as Stella squeaked and squealed and tried to get away.
Finally Mama walked in and Feather released her captive. “Mama saaaaaave me!” Laughed Stella as she wrapped herself around Mama’s legs.
“What is going on ?? I was only gone for ten minutes! What happened to Moomie and Papa??” Feather filled Mama in on her surprise introduction to Moomie and Papa. Mama slumped down on the couch next to Feather
“I’m sorry bae, thats not how I imagined introducing you either…I just thought it would occupy Stella for long enough to keep you guys out of mischief.. and you know maybe I wouldn’t come home to find my tooth brush crammed into a stuffed animals mouth again.”
“You mean Marshall? He was just trying to get rid of his dog breath…but yeah I understand.”
Stella picked up on the tension and got upset.
“But I didn’t do anything wrong Feather is part of our family, she’s one of my moms so she has to meet Moomie and Papa.”
Feather felt how lucky she was to have a pipsqueak in her life that loved her so much she was willing to take her on as another mom. “Awww Squeaks, I would be so lucky to be your mom! But I’m just your Mama’s girlfriend.” Stella looked at Mama and Mama nodded and explained she and Mommy were Stella’s parents since she was born and would be her parents her whole life.
“But what about Lucy?” Said Stella “She’s my mom too.”
Mama hesitated “Well Lucy is a dog but you can keep pretending she’s one of your moms too”
“Lucy is so my Mom! She’s my favorite Mom!” Argued Stella. Lucy was a very playful, loving and protective golden retriever. Mama had to acknowledge any pup or kid would be lucky to have her as a mom.
“But I still don’t understand who Feather is to ME” said Stella. She sounded sad, Feather hated hearing her cheerful, wild and crazy little friend sound so sad. It upset her so much that she realized exactly who Stella was to her.
“Well, I have been wondering…” started Feather. “If you would be my B.F.F?”
“What’s a B.F.F.?” asked Stella.
Feather turned her hat backwards and leaned down close to Stella “It means Best Friend Forever” she said.
Stella turned her hat backwards too, and gave Feather a big hug “I’ll be your bbff friend!!” She screeched and started bouncing around like the wild and crazy pipsqueak she was.
A few days later when it was just Feather and Mama, Feather took Mama on a date. Mama liked being outside every second of every day she could so they were eating out on a restaurant patio.
They had just finished discussing their usual topic of how much they missed Stella and how much more fun they’d be having if only Stella was here. Mama blew nose her nose loudly into her napkin and cried “I miss my baby!” one last time
Feather patted Mama’s hand but she was getting restless, she never got enough exercise when Stella wasn’t around. She noticed there was a lot of scaffolding around the next building and she could probably reach it if she ran and jumped. Maybe it would even impress Mama!
“Hold my drink” she said and sure enough she ran, jumped, grabbed the scaffolding and pulled herself up.
But Mama was a builder and she was not to be outdone! She loved being up high and hanging off the sides of buildings. She ran and jumped and soon was right by Feather.
“Oh really!” Said Feather and she took off running and went hirer and hirer up on the scaffolding until they reached the roof. They were laughing and panting.
WARNING: this next part is gross:
Feather and Mama kissed on the roof! Mama’s green eyes were sparkling in the city lights. Mamas eyes got greener whenever she was happy and also whenever she was full of mischief…
“So is that how they do it in Boston?” She asked Feather.
Feather laughed what a crazy Jackson thing to say! Instead of answering her question Feather asked another…
She asked Mama to be her G.F.F. (That stands for Girl-Friend Forever.)
Mama said YES! And they might’ve sealed it with another kiss- but we’ll leave all the gross lovey dovey details on the rooftop and move on with our story.
However, It is worth noting that on the climb back down, Feather fell between the last planks and hit the sidewalk below. Pedestrians scattered- As they should.
After all there was a new crew of G.F.Fs and B.F.Fs in town, and if people didn’t know how it was done in Boston, there was at least one pipsqueak who was gonna make sure they found out!
